Reborn Rich" and 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo" receive nominations from The International Emmy Awards

For this year’s International Emmy Awards nominees, two Korean dramas were included! 

The International Emmy Awards give awards to outstanding overseas TV programs to introduce to American audiences. It is one of the world’s major awards together with Banff World Media Festival in Canada and Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.

The award-giving body is celebrating 51 years and has officially announced the nominees on September 26. Among all the Korean dramas that were released recently, “Reborn Rich” and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” were recognized by the prestigious institution.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” received a nomination for the drama series category. The ENA K-drama is nominated alongside “Iosi, El Espía Arrepentido” from Argentina, “The Devil’s Hour” from the United Kingdom, and “The Empress” from Germany. The K-drama aired from June to August 2022 and became a huge hit in Korea as well as overseas. The series was led by Park Eun Bin, Kang Tae Oh, Kang Ki Young, Jeon Bae Soo, Baek Ji Won, and Jin Kyung.

Another K-drama that received a nomination this year is the JTBC K-drama “Reborn Rich.”

“Reborn Rich” is one of the most successful K-dramas of 2022. It was led by Song Joong Ki, Lee Sung Min, Shin Hyun Bin, Kim Jung Nan, Yoon Je Moon, and Jo Han Chul. The series also holds the record for the second highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history in viewership ratings. 

For this year’s International Emmy Awards, “Reborn Rich” was nominated for the TV Movie/Mini-Series category. They will be battling against “Infiniti” from France, “Dive” from Mexico, and “Life and Death in the Warehouse” from the United Kingdom. 

This is not the first time that Korean dramas have been recognized at the International Emmy Awards. Last year at the 50th International Emmy Awards, the 2021 KBS K-drama “The King’s Affection” won the Telenovela category. This was the first Korean drama to win an award at the prestigious award-giving body. The historical Korean drama beat other dramas from Brazil, Spain, China, and more. 

Meanwhile, the 2023 International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on November 20, 2023.
