Here are the winners for this year’s MAMA Awards

It's the time of year when the Korean entertainment industry celebrates achievements. From K-dramas and K-films to K-pop, prestigious award ceremonies have been happening frequently in recent months.

One of the most exciting events in the K-Pop world is the MAMA Awards by Mnet. Besides the prestigious awards, K-pop fans worldwide eagerly look forward to the thrilling performances and collaborations of their favorite idols each year.

For 2023, the MAMA Awards will be held for two days at Japan’s Tokyo Dome and will be hosted by singer Jeon So Min and actor Park Bo Gum. The first half of the awarding was held on November 28 and here are the notable winners: 

For the yearly Worldwide Fans’ Choice (Bonsang) awards, K-Pop groups BTS, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, NCT Dream, Stray Kids, TXT, ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, Lim Young Woong and ZEROBASEONE were awarded. 

Japanese musician Yoshiki took home the Favorite International Artist Award. For the Favorite Asian Girl and Boy Group, Kep1er and INI won respectively. 

YG Entertainment’s boy group TREASURE then took home the Galaxy Neo Flip Artist award. 

K-pop legends TVXQ performed and collaborated with SM Entertainment’s rookie group RIIZE. The duo also received the Inspiring Achievement award.

One of the most anticipated awards for the day is the Favorite New Artist and power rookie boy groups RIIZE and ZEROBASEONE were chosen for the award.

Lastly, the first daesang (Grand Prize) for this year’s MAMA Awards was given. This is The Samsung Galaxy Worldwide Icon of the Year award and it was awarded to none other than, BTS. The top K-pop boy group has received this award for the sixth year in a row.

The second day of the MAMA Awards will be held today and here are the big awards that will be given later: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Male Group, Best Female Group, and more.
