Media outlet JTBC Entertainment revealed that D.O. will no longer renew his contract with SM Entertainment. The report also stated that D.O. will be transferring to a new agency that has been established by his manager who has been there with him since his debut.

With all the reports circulating, SM Entertainment gave their official statement. The agency revealed, “D.O.’s exclusive contract with SM Entertainment will expire this coming November. After a thorough discussion with D.O., he will no longer renew his contract with us. Although he is not signed with SM Entertainment, D.O. will still continue as an EXO member and he will participate in all the group’s activities. D.O. will be joining a new agency with his manager to pursue his solo activities.”

D.O. is signing with the newly established agency called Company SooSoo. The agency was founded by the former director of SM Entertainment and EXO’s manager Nam Kyung Soo.

This is not the first time that EXO members were in the news for their contract renewals. Previously, members Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin, Sehun, and Chanyeol were all reportedly leaving SM Entertainment. Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin resolved their issue and stayed with the agency. As for Sehun and Chanyeol, SM Entertainment denied that the two would be leaving.

With all these reports, EXO’s leader reassured EXO-Ls (EXO’s fan club name) through the fan messaging app called Bubble. Suho messaged fans and stated, “Do not worry about EXO’s activities. Suho will take responsibility for it. We are one (EXO’s famous line).” Suho’s message easily became viral not only to EXO-Ls but also to other fans.

What are your thoughts on D.O.’s departure from SM Entertainment?
