BLACKPINK’s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment ended last month. Months before the contract ended, there were many rumors and speculations on the four members’ future plans.
This week, industry insiders shared that BLACKPINK members have officially decided their future path. According to them, the only BLACKPINK member who renewed her contract with YG Entertainment is Rosé. Reports also revealed that despite the large amount offered for renewals, the other three members decided not to re-sign.
It was also shared in the reports that although the BLACKPINK members are no longer part of YG Entertainment, they have decided to pursue the approach of “separated but together.” Meaning, that the members are signed under different agencies but they will still be promoted together as BLACKPINK. It was also stated that BLACKPINK agreed to promote as a group 6 months in a year.
The industry insiders also shared that Jisoo will pursue her acting career while Lisa will continue to be a solo artist. They also stated that Jisoo and Lisa have both signed with different Korean companies that offered them billions of Korean won in the contract. The news outlets then revealed that they still don’t have insider information regarding Jennie’s plans in the future.
After these reports circulated, YG Entertainment officially gave its statement. According to them, there are no truths to all the rumors that are circulating. The agency reiterated that the four members of BLACKPINK - Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie are still discussing their contracts with them. Nothing has been decided yet.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK held their last leg for “BORN PINK” in Seoul last September 17. Jennie’s speech, “We will continue to be BLACKPINK that you love,” reassured fans that whatever happens to their contract, the four members will do their best to stay as a group.
