After two years of waiting, BLINKs gets hope that BLACKPINK member Jisoo is returning to the K-drama scene.

A media source reported on August 31 that Jisoo will work alongside actor Park Jung Min in a new Coupang Play original drama titled “Influenza.”

Later that day, both Jisoo and Park Jung Min’s agency gave their statement regarding the casting news.

Jisoo’s agency, YG Entertainment, revealed, “It is true that Jisoo received an offer to star in ‘Influenza.’ She is still reviewing the offer, and nothing is sure yet.”

Park Jung Min’s agency SEM Company stated the same and shared that the actor is also reviewing the casting offer.

With this, if Jisoo officially confirms her participation in “Influenza,” this will be her second official leading role in a K-drama.

In 2021, Jisoo starred in her first-ever leading role in the Disney+ original K-drama “Snowdrop.” She created the masterpiece K-drama with Jung Hae In, Jang Seung Jo, Yoo In Na, Yoon Se Ah, and Kim Hye Yoon.

After “Snowdrop,” Jisoo focused more on her K-Pop activities as a BLACKPINK member and as an individual.

Many are already anticipating the next acting project of Jisoo. If she confirms her casting for “Influenza,” this will also be her debut on the Korean OTT platform Coupang Play.

The upcoming K-drama “Influenza” will narrate the story of a soldier and her girlfriend who recently got notified of their breakup. The two will meet again while facing a crowd of zombies on a high-rise air defense unit in Seoul.

Park Jung Min received the offer to play the character named Jae Yoon. He enlisted late at the age of 26. Because of his fear of the future, he tends to get obsessed with his girlfriend which leads him to the conclusion of breaking up with her.

Jisoo on the other hand, will possibly portray the role of Young Joo, Jae Yoon’s girlfriend. She is new to the working industry and patiently waits for her boyfriend to get discharged from the military. One day, she receives a notice that Jae Yoon wants to end their relationship. Young Joo then decided to go to the camp of Jae Yoon, and there, they ran towards each other while fighting for their lives against zombies.

“Influenza” will be helmed by “Parasite” writer Han Ji Won and “Bleak Night” director Yoon Sung Hyun.

Do you think Jisoo’s next K-drama should be zombie-themed?
